Massage Treatments

  • Relaxing, Gentle Swedish Massage

    A classical form of massage, and a great place to begin. This type of massage is always peaceful and rejuvenating ❦ ❊✺✴︎☁︎

    This style was developed by a Dutch doctor called Johan Georg Mezger; it is characterised by smooth, gliding strokes, flowing rhythm and adaptable pressure, which makes it excellent as a very gentle option ♡

    The aims are to reduce muscular tension throughout the body by increasing local circulation of blood and lymphatic fluids; to stretch muscle fibres; and to reduce adhesions in scar tisssue. Swedish Massage also stimulates the peripheral nervous system which encourages physical and emotional relaxation.

  • Yoga "Thai Stretching" Massage

    This is a dynamic, invigorating Treatment that combines Massage with assisted Yoga Poses (Asanas). It yields strong, tangible results - quickly. By combining movement with massage in this unique way, Yoga Massage heals and strengthens the body, as it programs the muscles to learn what healthy movement is. I learned the foundation of this Treatment from Shai, the founder of the School of Thai Yoga Massage in San Francisco, and then built on it with my own inventions.

    This Treatment comprises three parts:

    ✦ I will move you into guided stretches or Yoga Poses that are customised to your unique body. I use my entire body for this: hands, arms, knees, legs, feet and a stick.

    ✦ I will massage the muscles and tissues of the body, both while you are being stretched and while resting passively. This will encourage your freshly stretched muscles to stay at their increased length—extending and compounding the stretch benefits. Massage warms and stretches your muscle, in its own way, and boosts suppleness in the moment (by helping circulation &c) - so you’ll be able to stretch more deeply and to hold the poses for longer and be practicing a form of double stretching. This will lock in your body’s muscle memory in the strongest possible way.

    ✦ Energy and Breath Work - which is optional.

    Shai - my teacher - sometimes refers to this type of Massage “meditation in motion”.

    Due to its tension-relieving, focus-inducing powers, Massage can make it easier to stay present and focused during Yoga, which enhances Yoga’s meditative effects, making Yoga Massage v effective. 

    Usually there is a somewhat spiritual yet light, calm and playful atmosphere during this type of Treatment, but that can be adapted to your preferences :)

    For Beginners: This form of Massage / Yoga Therapy is good for you if you feel you are not at your most flexible and you would like an easy, enjoyable path into yoga. Although yoga is an excellent way to improve flexibility and reduce stress, it can be hard on your muscles at first if you're not adequately prepared. So to help your body relax, especially if you are new or seeking rehabilitation, it is a good idea to combine Yoga with Massage. A Yoga Massage is the perfect way to introduce your body to many aspects of Yoga in a peaceful, relaxed setting.

    For Advanced Clients: I will move you into assisted contortions, apply pressure for deep, intense stretching, demonstrate advanced poses and perfect your form as you replicate these and I will cement your muscle memory by Massaging you as you remaIn in position. Before we start I will consult with you and methodically assess your body to give you a personalised routine to practice with me (combining the routine with Massage will lock it in) and then you will perform the routine every day by yourself - until our next session when I will rate your progress and give you a new, more advanced routine.

    You will be surprised by how quickly you achieve mastery using this system - which will give you the type of confidence that comes from knowing you are doing well.

    You will also feel naturally aligned, light, flowing and bright.

    This Treatment will be so much fun :)

  • Ashiatsu (Barefoot) Massage 👣

    Known as “the deepest of deep tissue massages”, this is my speciality and it involves me massaging you with my feet.

    Introduces 3x deeper (but more diffused) pressure than a standard Deep Tissue Massage; also introduces compression. Ashiatsu feels really nice and has many medical benefits ⚘✺✭ 👣

    I learned how to perform Ashiatsu in Paris: I was looking for a style of Massage that could capitalise on my ability to perform intricate, highly controlled footwork, and which could satisfy clients needing the deepest and most concentrated application of pressure.

    This is a v technical style of massage to master. It is becoming more and more popular in the US, because of how much the deep, cushioned force and long firm strokes benefit the body - I am sure it will become popular in London soon. When I receive massages I always choose the Ashiatsu style.

    Guided stretching works v well with Ashiatsu Massage - as Ashiatsu stretches out your muscles whilst you remain still :)

  • Medical Massage

    This is Massage which will cure - or relieve the symptoms of - Medical Conditions. For this I expect you to have a formally diagnosed condition (for example, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) which is known - or believed - to be responsIve to Massage. If I am trained and experienced with treating that condition, I will deliver a targeted Massage and - if you wish, and it is suitable - also a stretch routine, focusing for the whole duration of the session on treating just that condition.

    I will send follow-up customised stretch routines and self-massage techniques, in the form of videos and printed sheets.

    I welcome anyone undergoing Radiotherapy / Chemotherapy (if they have been recommended to have Massages by their doctor) and I have a special focus on helping older people (age 70+, or whenever you feel older - it can vary so much) to heal and care for their bodies through gentle, careful touch.

  • Hands and Feet 👣

    Available on its own or can be inserted as a segment into another massage. Your hands and feet work very hard and it is important to look after them. Amazing sensations ✸✧▲

  • Luna Massage

    If you want me to, I will send you to sleep on the spot, with this.

    Otherwise, the Luna Massage feels like sleep. It is for people who are extremely mentally stressed, and enjoy the feeling of falling asleep.

    It will induce deep sensations of comfort, drifting and sinking into the deepest states of peace.

    It is inspired by the gentle Goddess of the Moon - and the enchantment and possibilities of the shadows of darkness. ☾☁︎☙

    The Luna Massage is as rejuvenating as sleep and it feels like sinking into clouds.

    If v overworked, stressed and exhausted, in recovery or generally feeling mentally and physically weakened the Luna Massage will give lasting benefits. Also good for travellers who wish to reset their circadian rhythm and Insomniacs.
